JEERA RICE
JEERA RICE
Hey foodies!!
Welcome to our blog. :)
Jeera rice is a popular Indian Dish. Jeera/cumin adds a beautiful flavour to the rice making it more consumable than the regular plain rice. It can be consumed with any gravy/curry.
So, the cravings for the jeera rice would be more than for a regular rice. It takes least effort but yet brings a heavenly flavour and spices up the regular rice routine. This is a recipe that everyone should try!!
here the dish has been served with dal fry.(a popular combo)
Ingredients:
Rice - 1 cup
Jeera- 2 tbsp
Ginger- 1 small piece(1 inch approx)
Garlic-3 cloves
Green chilli-2
Bay leaf-1
Cinnamon-1 inch(size)
Cloves-4
Oil/ghee- as required
Salt- as required
Prep: This involves rinsing,soaking rice.
1.Rinsing: Rinse the rice once or twice(until the water runs clear). This helps in to prevent the rice grains from sticking to each other.
2.Soaking: Soaking the rice would help it to boil properly. Soak it for 20 minutes.
Cooking:
1.Add ginger, garlic, green chilli and jeera to mixer jar and grind.
2. Heat 2 tbsp ghee/oil in a cooker . Add 1 bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon piece, cloves and the mixture grinded and saute them on a medium to low flame until they get roasted well and begins to smell good.
3. Add drained rice. Fry for 2-3 min on a high flame (don’t stir vigorously)
4. Measure and pour 2 cups of water and then add 3/4th tbsp of salt and stir. Taste and adjust salt as needed.
5. Cover and pressure cook on high flame for 1 whistle. Turn off stove and wait for 15 min for the pressure to release.
6. Check the rice and add a bit more ghee if you would like to.
SERVE IT with your favourite gravy/curry. Here we served it with dal fry.
*Perfectly cooked jeera rice should be fluffy ,non sticky and aromatic. π
